Why Use Radiant Heating?

Aside from the convenience and comfort factor there are a lot of reasons to use radiant heating inside the home or office.

For starters it eliminates air ducts and allergy problems as well as introduces a much more efficient heating system.

According to energy.gov, “it is more efficient than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because it eliminates duct losses. People with allergies often prefer radiant heat because it doesn’t distribute allergens like forced air systems can.”

The energy costs of a liquid-based floor heating system and using geothermal heat pumps are also lower than normal conventional utilities. “Hydronic (liquid-based) systems use little electricity, a benefit for homes off the power grid or in areas with high electricity prices. Hydronic systems can use a wide variety of energy sources to heat the liquid, including standard gas- or oil-fired boilers, wood-fired boilers, solar water heaters, or a combination of these sources.”

That’s not it for the benefits. How about home safety? Because heated floors are underneath the surface, there’s no wiring or structural pieces in the wall. It creates no burn hazards, nor is it a hazard for physical injuries due to accidental contact leading to tripping and falling. Without the ducts and wiring inside the walls you can change the look of your home like a more open floor plan. There’s heat everywhere and you don’t have to worry about blocking registers, baseboards or radiators with furniture.
Over all the feeling is more comfortable. Heat is down where we live rather than rising to the ceiling. When you’re feet are warm and your head is cooled down, you’re more comfortable and happy. This results in benefits for both residential and business installations. Happy workers are more productive. Happy Mom + happy kids = Happy Dad.

People suffering from poor circulation issues benefit from radiant floor systems that keep their extremities warm without making their head feel hot. Happy residents = happy building owner. Happy Grandma and Grandpa = Happy Mom & Dad.

These floors are easily zone-able and you can control the temperature of each room of the house for added comfort and energy savings.
