If you are unable to access the joist area under the subfloor, you can install a radiant floor system on top of the subfloor using thin slab radiant floor heating system. These slabs are usually 1-1/2 inches thick or more. The tubing is easily attached directly to a reinforcing mesh or to a clip screwed or nailed to the subfloor.
